Staff Development 2017

As an annual programme, this year’s Staff Retreat and Development programme was the 12th Anniversary and was held at Anita Hotel, Ejisu in the Ashanti Region from 10th September to 14th September, 2017. This programme presents to staff members—teaching and non-teaching (Heads of Departments)—the right platform to renew their relationship with God, fellowship together, develop their professional skills and strategize for the academic year ahead. Hence, this year’s programme was organized with the theme: “You Cannot Give What You Do Not Have”.
Having departed from Cape Coast at 12:30pm on Sunday, 10th September, 2017, Staff members arrived at Anita Hotel at around 5:30pm.

The just ended two-day Citizens International Inter-School (CIIS) Hockey competition was but another occasion to prove that aside being excellent in academics, Wesley Girls’ High School can perform commendably in the field of sports.

The day of her graduation is most probably the best day of the average Gey Hey girl’s school life. After about three years through the mill; the strict training, the best high school education, over 400 girls clad finally in their grand robes processed to receive their certificates of honour, amidst hearty smiles and tears of joy.

Awards Night 2017, was dubbed, Renovado, which means, renewal. Prior to this spectacular night, several preparations had to be put in place. The event started with an opening prayer by Priscilla Impraim, followed by melodious renditions by the Regimental Band.

The gallant athletic team of Wesley Girls’ High School stunned all and sundry by sweeping the ultimate trophies of both the Inter-College Athletics Competition and the Super Zonal Athletics Competition in the just-ended 2017 edition. By so doing, the misconception that the school was only ‘book based’ was disabused.

LITERARY NIGHT 2017

Literary Night 2017Ever envisaged being taken on a journey round the world, in one night? Ever entertained the possibilities of travelling the world of the arts in your imagination, in one night?
Literary Night 2017 made such ethereal wishes a reality, as it brought forth several displays of captivating drama, dance and poetry.
 Prior to the main event, there was lighting of the perpetual flame by Mrs. Djokoto, assisted by the old girls. She also launched a book of success stories of old girls she had compiled, entitled, ‘Yes You Can, Girl’.

All said and done, the school’s celebration of its 180th milestone came to a triumphant dénouement on Sunday, 12th February, 2017. Clad in white, the ancient and modern old girls, together with the student body accompanied Mrs. Betty Djokoto to the altar of worship to offer their profound gratitude to God for a successful 180th anniversary celebration.

After half a decade of silence, the Wesley Girls’ High School Basketball team (The Miners) finally stormed the Sprite Ball courts this year during the 10th Anniversary of the Sprite Ball Tournament.
Truly, The Miners proved to the nation that their disappearing act was to sharpen their skills as they came only to conquer.
