The Wesley Girls’ High school Staff development retreating workshop is an annual event, which brings the staff of the school, both teaching and non-teaching, together to evaluate work done in the previous year and to plan for the next academic year. It is a total package which encompass various undertakings such as setting of goals and implementation strategies for the new year, as well as other equally important areas that together make the teacher’s work effective. This year’s event which run with the theme “My God, My Work, My Home” is the 12th in the history of the Workshop and was once again held at the Anita Hotel in Kumasi—for the 7th time.
Among other important personalities, the staff had the privilege of learning from Opanin Kwadwo Kyere, a seasoned marriage counsellor, who imparted golden nuggets of wisdom for marriages and other relationships, Dr. Alfred Ampah-Mensah from the University of Cape Coast, who enlightened the staff on the importance of Measurement, Assessment and Appraisal.
The spiritual sections of the event was steered by Dr. Solomon Aryeetey, a renowned international evangelist, who together with his wife blessed the group with powerful exhortations. Also in attendance were representatives from the Methodist church, P.T.A, GNAT and Old Girls who delivered fraternal and goodwill messages.
Altogether, it was an insightful experience as usual, tainted with a recreationary effect; all the activities, from the keep fit, morning devotions, plenary sessions, and all the various topics treated added dividends to our work and life that will be cherished forever. The staff left the hotel refreshed and poised to face the academic year with hope and confidence.
