Past students of Wesley Girls’ High School not only cherish their alma mater but do everything within their means to give back to the great institution. It therefore did not come as a shock as the ’86 year group in their preparation toward this year’s 180th Speech and Prize Giving Day decided to launch the first ever mentorship program for final year students of the school. This august occasion was held in the school’s chapel.
Mrs. Martha Arthur of the ’86 group said a word of prayer to begin the program. The old girls present took turns in addressing the final year students to do their best to achieve great heights. The Managing Director of Barclays Ghana, Mrs. Patience Akyianu seized the opportunity to introduce the students to an online training curriculum created by Barclays known as Ready to Work. They were informed that Barclays’ Ready to Work prepares individuals in four major skill-development areas: Work, People, Money and Enterprise. They were entreated to join this online programme to help them in the near future.
The old girls ended the programme with Ms. Bridgette Dzogbenuku officially launching the mentorship programme as one to be held each and every year. Old girls continued to share their experiences in school and gave the students an opportunity to ask questions and get interactive.
