“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit- fruit that will last. Then the father will give you whatever you ask in my name.” The word ‘incoming’ was finally removed from their titles as on Sunday, 5th March 2017, the new prefects were officially made to take up the mantle.
With beaming faces, the outgoing and incoming prefects processed with the choir, clad in their green and yellow anniversary attires. Rev. Amissah Essel, the minister for the service, led the outgoing prefects through a pledge, in which they promised to devote themselves to other form of leadership, even as they leave office. Mr. Gabriel Kumassah, the assistant headmaster, then presented the incoming prefects to the congregation.
By the power invested in her by the Methodist Church of Ghana and the Ghana Education Service, our precious mother Mrs. Betty Djokoto invested them as the new leaders of the school in the name of the triune God. Following a hymn centered on rendering selfless service, the Reverend Minister finally inducted the prefects in, making them promise to uphold the standards of the school, much to the excitement of the rest of the school. After promising to ‘bear a stamp of spiritual authority’, the distinguished guests and parents extended a right hand of fellowship to congratulate them. From the sermon, the congregation learned that “leadership that leads is leadership by example.” After communion at the Lord’s Table, the choir led as the congregation gave their offertory. Mrs. Betty Djokoto requested for another round of upbeat music for the new prefects to dance one more time to celebrate their induction.
Shortly after, the service ended with a recession of the new prefects with the choir, with even brighter faces than when they came in.
