LOVE SHARED ON OLIVE COMPTON DAY

olive comptonOnce upon a time, over 80 years ago, a little school was not so little anymore. The school had had its share of headmistresses and each possessed her own beautiful trait. Then came Olive Compton. She was given this once little school to look after; a girls’ school. She accepted in spite of the odds.

On Tuesday, May 21, 2013, the students of W.G.H.S. sat in the dining hall (which was converted into a chapel) wearing their blue and white “kaba” and “slit”. It was ‘Olive Compton’s Day’ and the girls were settled early. A prayer was said to begin the ceremony. There were passages, poems and plays. It would not have been a ‘Gey Hey’ event without dancing or singing. Compton House girls were the last to perform.

MISS GARNETT’S BOOK OF CONDOLENCE

Garnett-condolence

A book of condolence has been put in front of the school’s administration
block for Miss Clarice Garnett-the last Caucasian headmistress and missionary to the school.
Old girls and year groups have signed and we are hoping that all will come
and sign to pay their last respect to the departed headmistress.
